La naturaleza esta llena de paisajes espectaculares y hay que aceptar que en muchos casos las obras del hombre nos ayudan a todos a disfrutarlos en todo su esplendor. La variedad de paisajes que he visto en este viaje es ya innumerable y esto es apenas el comienzo, pero como en todas las cosas hay algunos que nos llaman la atención mas que otros. El viaje desde Miami a Key West ha sido uno de ellos, no solo la belleza del corredor de pequeños islotes que se extiende por mas de 200 Km., sino la numerosa y continua cantidad de puentes que sobre aguas claras conforman el comienzo de la bien conocida autopista 1 que recorre toda la costa este de la Florida. Key West me pareció una agradable y pequeña ciudad, con mucha historia, muchos turistas y un ambiente 100% caribeño. Los antiguos y nuevos veleros se ven por todas partes y las playas con aguas a la profundidad de las rodillas que se extienden por cientos de metros lo hacen un sitio perfecto para relajarse y despejar la mente (claro que no es que haya estado muy estresado últimamente). Sin embargo quiero comentar (en mi opinión) que lo mas lindo de Key West es el paisaje en la ruta hacia esta isla, es realmente espectacular, una mas de las maravillas de la naturaleza.
La última vez que escribí me encontraba en Tampa, y bueno, pues ha sido un poco mas de una semana pero mucho se ha conocido y disfrutado. De Tampa salí por la costa para pasar por Saint Pettesburgh y el Sunshine Bridge, otra gran obra de ingeniería y un lindo paisaje. Ese mismo día me quede donde mi amigo Esteban en Cape Coral, una pequeña ciudad cerca de Fort Myers con un ambiente bien agradable. Esa noche salimos y andamos en un par de bares con otros amigos y mucho estudiante disfrutando de sus vacaciones de primavera, mucho que ver por ahí.
De Cape Coral seguí hacia Miami cruzando por Naples (linda ciudad en la costa oeste de la Florida) y por los famosos Everglades, una gran área de manglares con mucha agua y fauna para mi extraña, especialmente los caimanes que se pueden ver en algunos lugares al lado de la carretera. A Miami llegue donde Gerónimo (y su esposa Fabi), un viejo amigo de Colombia que vivió conmigo en San Diego el primer año cuando nos vinimos para Estados Unidos. No he hecho sino recibir atenciones inigualables donde todos los amigos que he visitado en este viaje, pero tengo que reconocer (y me perdonan los demás) que donde Gero ha sido con todos los juguetes que uno se puede esperar de Miami: cuarto privado, con cama doble, balcón, vista a la bahía y a la piscina llena de amantes del bronceador, y fuera de eso un tiempo ideal con la excepción de un par de días de lluvia. Además tuve la oportunidad de visitar a mi Tío Abuelo y su esposa que no veía hace muchos años y también a la madre mi amigo Jerry, y por ahí derecho gozar de unas comidas como solo las saben hacer las mamas.
Como empecé narrando hoy, estuve un par de días en Key West y luego regrese a Miami para pasar el fin de semana y disfrutar del Winter Music Conference ’07, de South Beach y de la compañía de otros de mis buenos amigos (Robleti y chetes) que vienen exclusivamente a este evento el fin de semana…. Y la fiesta comienza, luego les reporto. Suerte y pulso.

Nature is full of spectacular landscapes and one have to accept that in lots of cases the man developments help us to enjoy them the best way possible. The variety of landscapes that I have enjoyed during this trip is now countless and this is just the beginning, but like most things there are some that have called my attention more than others. The trip from Miami to Key West has been one of those, not only the beauty of the stream of little islands that goes on for more than 130 miles, but also the great amount of bridges that over clear waters make up the beginning of the well known HWY 1 that goes along all the Florida east coast. Key West appealed to me as and nice and little town with lost of history, lots of tourists and a 100% Caribbean feeling. The old and new sail boats are all around the island and the beaches with waters knee deep that extend for hundreds of feet make this place a perfect destination to relax and free your mind up (even though I have to admit I have had not too much stress latterly). Anyway I want to comment (in my humble opinion) that the most beautiful thing about Key West is the landscape in the road towards it, it is really amazing, one more of nature wonders.
Last time I wrote I was in Tampa, and well, it has been over a week but I have gotten to know and enjoy too many things. From Tampa I left around the coast to go through Saint Petersburg and the Sunshine Bridge, another great engineering work and a nice landscape. That same day I arrived to my friend’s Esteban place in Cape Coral, a little city close to Fort Myers with a quite nice environment. That night we went out around a couple of bars with some other friends and many spring brakers, lots to see around there.
From Cape Coral I continued to Miami going through Naples (beautiful city on the west Florida coast) and through the famous Everglades, a huge swamp area with lots of water and animals somehow strange to me, especially the alligators that you can see in some places just beside the road. In Miami I arrived at my friend’s Geronimo, a good old friend from Colombia that lived with me in San Diego for the first year when we came to the US. I have only be fortunate to receive excellent attentions from all my friends I have visited during this trip, but I have to acknowledge (and I hope the others forgive me) that at Gero’s it has been all the best you can expect from Miami: a private room, queen bed, balcony overlooking the bay and the pool full of suntan lovers, with a great weather with exception of a couple of rainy days. I also had the chance to visit an uncle and his wife I have not seen in years as well as my friend Jerry’s mom, and by the way enjoy some great food like only mothers know how to make.
As I started narrating today, I went to Key West for a couple of days to then come back to Miami to enjoy the weekend, the Winter Music Conference ’07, South Beach and the company of some other good friends (Robleti y Chetes) that are coming from Dallas exclusively to this weekend event…. And party starts… I’ll report later… Enjoy.

Hermano usted definitivamente si tiene el viaje organizado al milimetro, dar con ese festival del WMC en Miami, que envidia y usted sabe que es verdad porque que datia por estar en esa buena fiesta. Bueno, siga gozando como un putas que por aca le seguimos haciendo barra mijo.... Suerte!!!
