Dallas, TX… my first stage destiny is now for a couple of days already a reality. Well, here in Dallas I have a big group of friends that I wanted to visit and use the opportunity to take a break since there is no rush… weather has been quite good so just taking it easy, working out some minor stuff I had pending, do laundry, check the bike, but honestly, more than anything just having a good time with good friends.
I’ll be around here until next week, I’m traveling this weekend to Austin and San Antonio with one of my friends though, and when back will get everything ready to get going towards Florida. I hope weather continues as it is and that it warm up in general so I can make a reality the idea of going all the way to New York to then cross east to west all the US towards the Northern states. After my experience riding on a snow storm close to Grand Canyon, there is no much will to do it again, so I hope weather helps me when it gets time to cross all the way back to California.
In my trip from Grand Canyon (Flagstaff, AZ) to Dallas, I had the chance to see some beautiful places like the Petrified Forest National Park, the White Sands National Park and the Very Large Array as well as some nice roads, especially the one that from Almogordo goes to Hobbs in New Mexico, a winding mountain road with incredible landscapes.
In addition to this, there is not much to report. The day I made it to Dallas I traveled for more than 350 miles in a very monotonous road with some crazy cross winds, to tell the truth not a very enjoyable day, but well, not everything can be perfect, like almost freezing while camping in Socorro, NM, where temperatures went well below freezing and my 15 degrees sleeping bag did not do its job pretty well… we learn along the way… I’d say!
